Site Suggestion Overload!

Wow...we've gotten a ton of great suggestions for the "misbehaving elsewhere" section of the sidebar. I'll be adding names and links this weekend.

It's probably going to be a long enough list that keeping it in that sidebar might be a challenge. So, there are a couple of possibilities.

1) We could go to a three-column layout, and put the names in one sidebar, and the blog miscellany (comments, trackbacks, rss, etc) in another.

2) We could randomize a display of n names on the first page, and provide a link to a separate page with the longer list.

3) We could do some other really clever thing that I'm not thinking of right now, but that you're about to suggest in the comments...

Well, this is obvious, but... it's a pretty big sidebar. As long as the rest of the sidebar goes on top for easy access, can we really not fit all the other misbehavior in?

I've seen some JavaScript thingies which allow for tabbed blogroll lists... so you can still have lots of links without taking up so much vertical space.

Bur I agree with Dorthea, just make the "Misbehaving Elsewhere" section the last section of the sidebar.

Or if it is going to be REALLY long, I like the randomization idea.

I like the random idea, with a link leading to the full list in some sort of order (but alphabetical by her name or her URL?)

You may also think about the combination of random + recently updated. It could be done easily by creating a blogroll at blogrolling.com (and I would recommend it based on my experiences of maintaining KM blogroll at http://www.knowledgeboard.com/item/101925 - adding new blogs much easier than playing with templates).

you could put it in a scroll box if it didn't mess up your layout too much
