Happy International Womens' Day!
A colleague came in this morning with a cheery "Congratulations!!!" I looked at him in surprise. "It's the eighth of March today", he said with a grin. "Womens' Day!"
It's only just over a hundred years since the first women were allowed to vote. Spend a few minutes today thinking of our mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers and great great grandmothers who fought so hard for suffrage, equal pay and equal rights. Women are still paid less than men, and if you're born a woman, you're a lot less likely than your brother to have influence in politics or industry, but at least we're theoretically equal now. In theory, we can do anything.
Enjoy your day. Read about the history of the International Women's Day. And if you're in Poland, enjoy your flowers!
